Tiger & Birding Tour

Tour Duration: 13 Nights / 14 Days
Itinerary:Delhi – Bharatpur(3N) – Ranthambore(3N) – Bandhavgarh(3N) - Kanha(3N) - Nagpur – Delhi (1N)
Tour Theme: Covers most popular birdwatching forests and tiger reserves of Central India.

DAY-01: Arrival Delhi – Bharatpur (190kms/04:00hrs)
Birdwatching tours India On arrival at the Delhi airport, our representative will give due assistance and transfer to hotel. At hotel, you will be handed over all the documents required during the tour with short brief on tour program. After refreshment, drive to south direction for Bharatpur which is located in Rajasthan district of India. While going to Bharatpur, we will pass through holy Mathura city where Lord Krishna was born and grown up. City is also known for having number of cow-houses where large number of unclaimed cows were given shelter at free of cost as cows is a holy animal in Hindu religion. On the way to Mathura we can see Laughing dove, Indian Myna, Sparrow, Pigeon (disambiguation), Egrets, Cormorants, Bulbul. Peacocks, Kites etc.

DAY-02: Bharatpur (Keoladeo National Park)
Do birding tour of Keoladeo National Park on rickshaw with guide and patience. Here authorized rickshaw (3-wheel cycle) is used to visit the park. You can carry pack-lunch with you or can have lunch in canteen also, close to entrance gate. Bharatpur: Bharatpur is a city in Rajasthan state of India. City is known for Bird Sanctuary called Keoladeo Ghana National Park, declared as bird reserve in 1956, National Park in 1982 & UNESCO World Heritage Center in 1985. It is just 50 kms from Agra city and generally visited while moving from Jaipur to Agra or vice-versa. Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary was former hunting reserve of the Maharaja. Park is spread over 29 sq. km area and nestles more than 350 species of aquatic birds migrated in winters from Siberia, Afghanistan, China, Turkmenistan etc. About 11 sq. km. of area was filled with water in the park forming a ideal place for aquatic birds.

DAY-03: Bharatpur
Dedicate the day in bird watching at Keoladeo Ghana National Park, one of the birder’s paradise in the birding map of world. You can opt rickshaw, bi-cycle or walk mode for birding. Best time to visit Bharatpur is early winters i.e. months of October, November, December. Part of Bharatpur favored by water birds are open areas with some clumps of tree on tiny islands. Wet-land margins are dominated with groves of tall tree & scrub-jungles. Notable Bird species in Bharatpur are: Spotted creeper, White Ibises, Red-crested Pochards, Painted Stroks, Whistling Ducks, Dalmatian Pelican, Spot-billed Ducks, Little Cormorants, Black-crowned Night Herons, Asian Openbills etc.

DAY-04: Bharatpur – Ranthambore (315kms/06:30hrs)
We will begin the day with drive to early morning we will drive to South-West direction for Ranthambore National Park, by road. Ranthambore is originally pronounced as Ranthambhore. Ranthambore National Park is in Rajasthan state at North-West of India. It lies in junction of Aravali and Vindhya ranges in Eastern part of Rajasthan state. It was included in Project Tiger in 1973 and became Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. It is spread over and area of 392 sq. kms. Once we will arrive, just relax and can spent time in looking for birds in the surrounding area.

DAY-05: Ranthambore
Take morning and evening game drives of Ranthambore tiger reserve. Prime wildlife attractions at Ranthambhore are: Tiger, Leopard, marsh Crocodiles, Wild boar, Hyena, Sambhar, Jungle Cat, Caracal, sloth bear, Common Langurs etc. Ranthanbore is bounded by river Chambal in south and River Banas in north. Lakes and 10th century fort inside Ranthambore Tiger Reserve are other places to see.

DAY-06: Ranthambore - Bandhavgarh
Take morning game drives of Ranthambore tiger reserve. Other than mammals, we will also find variety of birds in this tiger reserve in which some common ones are: Painted Spurfowl, Woodpeckers, Rufous-tailed Finch Lark, Painted Sandgrouse, Sirkeer Malkoha, Jungle Bush Quail, Pheasant-tailed Jacanas, Sulphur-bellied Warbler, Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse, Kingfisher sub species, five Owl species etc.
In evening, drive to Sawai Madhopur railway station (30min drive) to take overnight train for Katni railway station, in South-East direction for further drive to Bandhavgarh National Park.

DAY-07: Katni – Bandhavgarh (100kms/02:30hrs)
Tiger Safari tours India On arrival at Katni railway station in early morning, we will drive to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. On this day we will attend evening game drive.
Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is famous for high tiger density and Bandhavgarh-fort on hill top. Wildlife attractions of Bandhavgarh are: Tiger, Spotted Deer, Leopards, Sambhar, Wild Boar, Black-face Languars, Sloth Bear, Blue Bull etc. Sita & Charger, tiger pair, was one of the most popular tiger of Bandhavgarh and known for the great contribution in tiger population of Bandhavgarh. Bird sighting from hill-top during fort visit is another attraction as we have chance to do bird watching of flying birds and do photography. Bandhavgarh fort visit is a special visit in which we can see ancient Bandhavdheesh temple, man-made ponds, small Bandhavgarh fort, Treasury building, statues, caves, bird photography point etc., all on the top of the hill.

DAY-08: Bandhavgarh
Begin the day with morning game drive to explore wildlife in hills of Bandhavgarh. We will also do go on evening safari also. In Bandhavgarh we can do tiger sighting on safari jeeps and if our luck favor, on elephant back also. Riding on elephant back depends upon the successful tracking by trackers. During game drive we will also keep our eyes in search of available bird species also. Birding attractions here are: Mottled Wood Owl, Lesser Adjutant, White-naped Thrush, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Orange-headed Thrush, Brown Fish Owl, Common Wood Shrike, Shikra, Indian Robin, Jungle Babbler, Pond Heron, Indian Roller, Racket-tailed Drango, Peacock etc. In bandhavgarh, Pantatha safari zone is considered good for birdwatching.

DAY-09: Bandhavgarh
Take morning and evening park safari in Bandhavgarh forest in search of more tigers & birds.

DAY-10: Bandhavgarh - Kanha National Park (260kms/06:30hrs)
On this day, we will do last morning park safari of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and then drive to South direction for Kanha National Park, located in partially in Mandla & Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh, India. Kanha Park is rated undisputed best National Park of Central India. Drive to Kanha passes through tribal villages of Shahpura, Kundam, Niwas area. On the way, sighting of Spotted Dove, Indian Roller, Jungle Babbler, Pond Heron, Baya, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Bulbul, Black Drango, Indian Cuckoo is quite common. We will reach our resort in Kanha by the time of sunset so after dinner, just relax to get up early in the morning for game drive.

DAY-11: Kanha National Park
Begin the day with morning park safari, start up early in the morning before sun-rise. Early morning safari is best for tiger sighting as with sun-rise tiger restricts its movement due to rise in temperature. Inside Kanha Tiger Reserve, Kanha Village is the point where all safari jeeps have to report. Here we can visit Kanha Museum to understand wildlife in more comprehensive way. In addition to that we will also have our pack-lunch at this point with some tea/coffee. After refreshment, continue remaining safari. If we will be lucky enough, we may have first encounter with tiger in Kanha wilderness. We may have good chance to do photography of Bison herd in grasslands of forest. Muscular shoulder, massive body built-up of male Bison and their white lower legs makes this animal photogenic. Hard Ground Barasingha (Swamp Deer) is the unique speciality of Kanha National Park as it cannot be seen any other park of the world. More than 300 Barasingha’s are living in Kanha forest and can be often seen in meadows. Its golden-yellow body color distinguishes it from Sambhar as they both have similar physique. During Safari, calls of Sambhar & Spotted Dear, in addition to pugmark tracking, is the main source of tiger tracking in forest.

DAY-012: Kanha National Park
Continue the day with morning & evening game drives of Kanha forest. During park safari, we will encounter more than 250 species of birds in this tiger reserve. Black Drango, Spotted Dove, Indian Roller, Shikra, Indian Pond Heron, Cattle Egret, Indian Treepie, Jungle Crow are among the most often seen birds. In addition to that we may find Crested Serpent Eagle, Crested Hawk Eagle, Red Junglefowl, Rufous-backed Shrike, Bhack-headed Oriole, Indian Tree Pipit, Red Munia, Common Myna, Blank Myna, Black-capped Kingfisher, Hoopoe, Racket Tailed Drango Common Gray Hornbill etc. If we will be lucky enough, we may find rare Malabar Pied Hornbill & Green Munia also.

DAY-13: Kanha - Nagpur - Delhi
After morning game safari, as the last one in Kanha, we will drive to Nagpur Airport. It is about 300kms from Kanha National Park. Journey from Kanha to Nagpur passes through tribal villages followed by Seoni town. It is the place where real-life Mogli boy was captured from forest and later its story was used as an inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. Take evening flight for Delhi. On reaching Delhi, drive to hotel.

DAY-14: Delhi - Departure
Do full day sightseeing of Delhi. Visit Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi), city founded by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Here we will visit UNESCO World Heritage site: Red fort, Jama Masjid (Great Mosque). Further visit to Humayun Tomb, India Gate, Lotus Temple, Akshar Dham temple. In evening, drive Airport to fly back to home.
